Why you need Dryer Repair
If you notice any of these, it is time to call:
- Runs but does not heat
- An electric unit has usually lost one leg of the element, or a thermal fuse has blown. A gas unit points at the igniter or the flame sensor instead. The first measurement differs completely.
- Clothes still damp after a full cycle
- Airflow: a lint-loaded vent, a crushed flexible duct behind the machine, or a blocked bird screen outside.
- Shuts off part way through
- The dryer has shut itself down on the high limit because the exhaust is restricted. Fitting a new thermostat without clearing the run simply repeats the problem.
- Squealing or rumbling while turning
- Drum rollers, the idler pulley or the rear bearing. It worsens slowly, so most people live with it far longer than they need to.
- Drum will not turn
- Usually the belt, occasionally the motor behind it. A broken belt is replaced during the same visit on almost every model.
- A hot smell during a cycle
- Stop the cycle and call us. Lint sitting against a hot element is the most common cause of a dryer fire, and we treat it as urgent.
