Why We Publish Prices At All
Most companies will not name a figure until somebody is already in the house, which is precisely the point at which you have the least room to say no. We would rather you had a figure in mind before you call, so the visit is a decision you made rather than one made around you.
What the figures on this page are, and are not
They are starting prices drawn from real north suburban jobs, per problem and per appliance. They are not a quote. The final figure depends on the make, the part and the labor that particular unit needs, and it is in writing before work starts.
What moves the price
- The appliance. A furnace in a crawl space or a column refrigerator in cabinetry takes time to reach before any part is touched.
- The brand. Parts for imported and professional equipment cost more and occasionally have to be ordered in.
- The part itself. A thermal fuse and a control board take the same labor and land nowhere near each other on the bill.
- Access. A stacked laundry unit in a closet, or an attic air handler, takes longer to reach and longer to put back square.
What never moves
The price you approved. Nothing appears on the invoice afterwards, and no work starts before you have agreed the figure. If we open something and find a second fault behind the first, we stop and tell you before continuing.
